Vintage motorcycle enthusiasts from across the UK will descend on Perthshire for a series of exciting events.
The rallies attract motorcycles and three-wheeled cars from the early years of motorised transport right up to the early 1990s.
Many of the once familiar manufacturers’ names from the past will be represented at the weekend including BSA, Scott, Velocette, Norton, Matchless, Triumph and Morgan.
Starting on Saturday, July 29, the machines will assemble for 9am at the rugby grounds at Coupar Angus Road, Blairgowrie. Leaving there at short intervals after 10am, they will then follow a route up to 100 miles in length.
The bikes will pass through Blackwater, Reekie Linn and Kirriemuir in the morning and then Alyth and Ardler in the afternoon. Machines and riders will start returning to the rugby grounds from 2.30pm onwards.
Following this, the bikes will gather again at the same location on the Sunday around 9.30am for a shorter organised social run-out on the local roads.
There will be a coffee stop in Errol where riders can refresh themselves before the making their way back to Blairgowrie.
Rod Richardson, assistant secretary for the event based in Comrie at the former prisoner of war camp at Cultybraggan, said: “It’s intended that the action moves to Crieff on August 2 in preparation for a run-out over an organised route through the Sma’ Glen and Aberfeldy area before returning to Comrie in the afternoon.
“Then, on August 5, the programme continues with a move to Cultybraggan. Bikes and riders will set off at intervals to tackle yet another 100-mile route.
“Guest starter for the day here will be local businessman Stephen Leckie, himself the owner of a 1917 BSA motorcycle and sidecar that is now 100-years-old and still going strong.
“This time the bikes will head west up to Lochearnhead and over to Aberfoyle before eventually reaching the village of Doune for the lunch stop. From Doune they will head up through Bridge of Allan and Sheriffmuir before they meander back to Comrie.”
The following day the machines will tackle roads around Crieff, Methven and Pitcairngreen before returning to Cultybraggan.
Mr Richardson added: “This year’s combined rally co-ordinators agreed that the fact that we can continue to attract such large numbers of vintage and classic machines to our events in Perthshire clearly reflects the level of enjoyment participants know they can expect.
“They have the opportunity to use their cherished machines in the way originally intended – out on the road. The excellent Perthshire scenery and the opportunity to meet up with and ride with a large group of fellow enthusiasts over five separate days are attractions that are not duplicated elsewhere.”
