A man accused of holding a rooftop siege which locked down a Perth neighbourhood for eight hours has appeared in court.
Danny Stewart faces allegations he hurled chimney pots and slates while standing on top of flats at the city’s Stanley Crescent.
The street was closed off by police throughout Sunday afternoon. Crowds gathered at the cordon and looked on as police in riot gear patrolled the area.
Stewart, 24, appeared in private at Perth Sheriff Court.
He is accused of culpably and recklessly, over a period of several hours, while standing on the roof of three neighbouring blocks, repeatedly throw clay pots and slate at parked vehicles.
It is alleged he caused damage to the cars and the roof and police officers and members of the public, standing on the street below, at danger.
Stewart, from Perth, is also accused of conducting himself in a disorderly manner by shouting, swearing and refusing to come down from the rooftop.
He made no plea during the brief hearing before Sheriff Lindsay Foulis and was remanded in custody.
He is due to make a follow-up appearance in the same court next week.
