A boy claims he was kicked “full force” five times on the body by a criminal defence advocate after he tried to barricade himself in a room.

The child, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said William Adam, 57, of Brechin Road, Forfar, kicked him on the thigh, “butt” and shin, leaving him with bruises.

The boy, who gave evidence at Perth Sheriff Court by video link, told depute fiscal Michael Sweeney the incident made him cry and he later told one of his friends about it when the pair were in school.

The boy claimed Adam managed to get in the room where he was on the floor and told the court the accused then kicked him “full force” five times on the body.

“I was kicked on the thigh, butt and shin and had bruises after,” he said.

“I told one of my friends that Billy had kicked me and that it hurt.

“The incident made me upset and angry.”

The boy had earlier told the court Adam pushed him “accidentally” down some stairs on a different occasion but did concede that he had not mentioned the accused “shouting and swearing” at him prior to being kicked “multiple” times in the bedroom to police at a later date.

Adam’s solicitor Alan Gravelle, said some of the boy’s details in his statement to police did not match what he had told the court.

Adam denies attacking a child by repeatedly kicking him on the body to his injury between November 25 and 26, 2014, and denies repeatedly pushing a door and forcing entry in an aggressive manner.

Adam also pleads not guilty to a charge that between October 11 and 12, 2014, at an address in Blairgowrie, he assaulted his former partner while she was pregnant by repeatedly pushing a door against her body.

In addition, he denies shouting, swearing and being aggressive towards the woman on various occasions between June 1, 2013, and October 12, 2014.
