Fresh appeal for missing Lee Brown, one week after he disappeared

The search for Lee Brown took place on the River Ericht.
The search for Lee Brown took place on the River Ericht.

Fears are growing for a missing Blairgowrie man, who vanished from his home a week ago.

Lee Brown has not been seen for seven days, despite extensive search efforts by emergency services and members of the public.

The 34-year-old, who has been described as vulnerable, was reported missing in the early hours of Friday, November 30.

A large-scale hunt around of the River Ericht was carried out over several days following a possible sighting.

Fire crews and members of the public joined the riverside search on Saturday evening, but no trace of Mr Brown was found.

Police returned to the town on Friday, exactly seven days since he went missing.

Mr Brown has been described by police as a “high risk” and it is believed he left home without his phone.

Police inspector Emma Bowman, who is leading the inquiry, said on Friday: “We are growing increasingly concerned for Lee’s welfare, given he has now been missing for a week.

“Officers revisited the area where he was last seen in the early hours of this morning in the hope of jogging people’s memories.

“Specialist searches have been carried out along the banks of the River Ericht and nearby wooded areas.  Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and the Police Scotland Marine Dive Unit conducted a search of the water’s surface and shorelines, which continued over a period of four days.”

She said: “Officers are continuing with house to house and reviewing CCTV. We would again ask residents to check any sheds, garages or outbuildings for any signs that someone might have been there”.

Mr Brown uses a walking stick and is around 5ft 10in and slim with short brown hair.

He could have been wearing a camouflage jacket and a blue bucket hat when he disappeared.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or speak to any police officer.
