The first week of Perform in Perth was brought to a close on Saturday with pipe bands, baton twirling and country dancing.

Saturday’s entertainment followed on from Friday evening’s showcase of speech, drama, piano and organ playing.

A spokesperson for Perform in Perth said: “Friday evening’s organ and piano competitions were adjudicated in St John’s Kirk by Howard Duthie, who is the St John’s Kirk organist.

“The performers had the benefit of accessing St John’s Kirk’s excellent grand piano and its fully mobile organ, which allowed the audience to see the organ performances as well as hearing them.

“Saturday’s pipe band solos were of a high standard, despite entries being down this year.

“Saturday, in addition to Scottish Country Dancing, adjudicated by Allana Creighton, was dominated by a number of baton twirling competitions, for solos and for teams.

“Adjudicator Jackie Hogg, from Edinburgh, found the standard to be high and awarded the best solo of the day Star Award to Aimee Dignance of Turleum Twirlstars (Crieff) and the best team of the day Star Award to Turleum Twirlstars.”
