The Great Perthshire Tattie Run will return to the Fair City this summer.
Plans to bring the race back to Perth have been signed off with full council backing.
Runners will take to the streets with 10kg or 20kg sacks of spuds on their shoulders in August.
Organiser Terry Crossley, director of Great Scottish Events, is delighted to be back and wants to see even more people running rings around St John’s Place and King Edward Street.
He said: “We had a meeting with Perth and Kinross Council last week which was great. They’re fully backing us again.
“We’ve got the schedule planned out and we’ve already had about 50 entries sign up for this summer.
“Last year we had 200 runners and I hope we can get that up to 300 this year. There were loads of spectators and we’d love it if some of them would take part this year’s run.”
“It was a really good weekend and we’re looking to continue growing it.
“We started off by organising the Edinburgh Christmas Charity Walk which became the Edinburgh Christmas 5K and 10Ks. When we added a bit more fun and made it the Tattie Race, it really took off and so we brought it to Perth.

“This year is the fourth annual Edinburgh Tattie Run on June 30 and then the second annual Perth run in August.”
The race on Saturday August 10 will see competitors run four laps of Perth City Hall, totalling one mile of tattie-lugging, starting from 2pm.
Meanwhile, teams of four relay runners will all take on around 400m each.
“We start with then men’s and women’s races before moving onto the relay and junior runs,” said Mr Crossley.
“We’ve got a spud and spoon race for the children too.
“We want this year to be bigger and better and we’ve already have interest from far and wide.
“So far we have had entrants sign up from as far away as Aberdeen and Inverness and we’ve even had a relay team sign up from Bournemouth. That’s exactly what we want.
“We’re looking to get local football and rugby teams signed up and kids’ groups too. This was one of the highlights of the medieval weekend last year.”
