A major Russian TV channel is sending a film crew to a Perthshire village in May to record a ceremony in memory of three Russian airmen that died there during the Second World War.
Channel One, a national station in Russia, is sending their crew to Fearnan for the ceremony on May 6 as part of a programme they are making about the three men – Aleksandr Gruzdin, Aleksandr Alexeev, Vasily Dryamin.
The airmen, alongside their Czechoslovakian cook Frantisek Drahovzal all died when their plane crash-landed at Fearnan on May 29 1943.
The film crew will also be visiting Errol where the three men were stationed as part of a secret allied operation called Albemarle.

The story of the four men who died was uncovered by Russian author Anna Belorusova whose grandfather served beside the men during the war.
Anna will also be travelling to Fearnan for the ceremony and acting in a producing capacity for the film based on her book.
Anna said: “Channel One, Russia’s major national TV channel which broadcasts to an audience of 250 million both in Russia and worldwide has confirmed they are sending their TV crew to Scotland to shoot material about the Russian airmen story and present developments.
“It will be based on the book and focused on May 6 ceremonies in Errol and Fearnan and also feature an exhibition in Montrose.
“The story will be shown to the multi-million audience on the Victory Day. This is a fantastic news as it will bring enormous awareness of what we have managed to build up.”
