The woman who posed as a carer to steal from an 87-year-old man in Invergowrie. has been accused of a “despicable act of cowardice”.
Angus Forbes, Councillor for Carse of Gowrie, condemned the thief who tricked her way into the pensioner’s home on Tuesday morning and stole money, medicine and other items.
Mr Forbes said: “This is a despicable act of cowardice against an elderly and vulnerable person in their own home and it makes me very angry that we have reached such lows.
“I hope the police find this person quickly, bring them to justice and they serve a very long prison sentence.”
On Thursday police said inquiries were ongoing into the incident that occurred between 5.30am and 6am at Hunters Crescent in the Perthshire village.

Officers said the female suspect gained entrance into the elderly man’s home by pretending to be his daily home carer.
She then carried out some general tasks before stealing quantities of cash and medication along with other items.
The deception was discovered when his genuine daily carers arrived later in the morning.
Police have put out an appeal for information to try and catch the suspect whose car may have been caught on CCTV.
A police spokesperson said: “Officers would like to trace a woman described as white, aged 25-40 with long blonde hair, who was wearing a white and black checked jacket or blazer, white t-shirt and light blue jeans.
“She is thought to have been driving a silver or grey Vauxhall Corsa which has been seen on local CCTV.”
