Five vehicles have been involved in two separate road accidents within 20 minutes of each other on the A9 in Perthshire.
Both incidents caused traffic tailbacks as emergency services rushed to the scenes near Bankfoot and Pitlochry with one person hospitalised.
The first collision occurred at around 3.08pm between a HGV and a car on the A9 between Dunkeld and the slip road at Pitlochry.
No one was injured in the crash which is believed to have occurred near dualling works being carried out on the A9.
Less than 20 minutes later at 3.24pm police received a report of a three car smash on the A9 one mile north of Bankfoot.
Witnesses at the scene reported seeing a head-on collision as police and ambulance services rushed to the accident.
One person was taken to Perth Royal Infirmary for observation but no serious injuries were reported.
The road at Bankfoot was restricted in both directions for over an hour-and-a-half as emergency vehicles remained on scene until shortly after 5pm.
The three car smash at Bankfoot is also believed to have occurred beside dualling work being carried out on the A9.
Traffic Scotland recently warned drivers in the area of new traffic measures brought on by the dualling process with a temporary mini-roundabout being installed near Bankfoot which is expected to be operational from June 25.
The temporary mini-roundabout is expected to be in operation until spring 2020.
A9 road users were advised to approach the new road layout with care and that the speed limit on approach to the new roundabout will be reduced to 30mph.
