Motorist wins compensation after Perthshire car-jacking carried out by teen and boy, 10

A motorist left traumatised when a 10-year-old boy and a teenager carjacked him at knifepoint has been awarded £1,500 compensation.

Charles Lindsay pulled a knife on Rhys Williams, 23, and forced him out of his car after he had pulled in to the roadside for a rest during a long drive.

Lindsay and the primary school pupil then got in the car and drove off, leaving their shocked victim helpless at the side of the road.

Yesterday at Perth Sheriff Court, Lindsay, now 20, was ordered to pay £1,500 to windfarm worker Mr Williams for the distress caused to him.

Sheriff Gillian Wade said: “You know very well this was a very serious matter. You can’t remember much about it, but your victim can. It is appropriate to make compensation.

“I do not wish to see you in this court again and hope this has been a severe lesson to you. The offence took place two years ago and clearly you have matured significantly.”

The court heard motorbike mechanic Lindsay pulled a knife on his sleeping victim in the dead of night before taking the stolen car for a joyride.

Mr Williams, who had been tired after driving from Wales to Scotland to return to work, was left dumped at the roadside without his shoes.

Lindsay, Logie Drive, Logiealmond, admitted assaulting and robbing Mr Williams at knifepoint on 13 October 2017.
