A9 road closure due to Solheim Cup clear-up works likely to cause delays on A9 in Perthshire

Delays are expected across Perthshire this week due to roadworks.

The A9 will be closed overnight tomorrow and Saturday at Gleneagles to remove two temporary footbridges set up for the Solheim Cup at Gleneagles.

There will also be resurfacing on the M90 between the Friarton Bridge and Craigend interchange from Friday evening until Monday morning, during which a contraflow system will be in place.

On the M90 the Craigend southbound slip-road will be closed, with traffic to be diverted via Bridge of Earn.

Drivers heading for the Barnhill southbound on-slip will be diverted to the A90 Kinfauns interchange. There will also be a 30mph speed limit in place over the Friarton Bridge.

On the A9, the road will be closed in both directions between 7.30pm and 6.30am tomorrow and Saturday. On Friday night the road will be open with single-lane closures.

Local diversions will be provided through the Gleneagles, Auchterarder and Aberuthven junctions of the A9 during the closure times. Pedestrian access to the train station will be maintained but bus stops within the closures will not be operational.

Emergency services will be permitted access at all times.

The works will be followed by improvements on the Earn Bridge, which re-start on September 30 after being postponed last month.
