Lily Douglas’ mum has thanked campaigners for their efforts in welcoming the Perth schoolgirl home from hospital as Scone Palace lit up pink to honour the young dancer.
Jane Douglas told supporters Lily had been able to get out and see the light display and fireworks on Tuesday night, after spending 10 days in hospital battling cancer.
The Scone show was the culmination of the Light Up for Lily campaign designed to show the love and support the 12-year-old girl has in her local community of North Muirton and further afield.
Posting a thank you to the campaign page, Jane Douglas said: “Lily , (brother) Leon and I want to thank you all again for her lovely home coming, Scone Palace was just gorgeous.
“We managed to get Lily to the grass at North Muirton to watch and heard lots of cheers from Scone.

“It was so lovely, her unicorn and all her balloons survived the storm and all still look lovely today.
“Thank you for all the fundraising and raffle prizes also, it will help put things in place at home to make her life easier and more comfortable.”
The Light Up campaign was started by Irene McDonald who also managed to raise £3,000 for Lily and Jane through raffles, a number she hopes will reach £5,000 shortly.
Irene told The Courier: “It was quite emotional but it was definitely a positive thing and we’re just so pleased that Lily was able to go out and see it and it was a relief to know that she was well enough to go out and see it.
“It’s been very heartwarming to see everyone chip in and to see so many thing being done for free. It was a huge effort and put our faith back in people.”
The palace’s Lady Mansfield said:”Scone Palace was delighted to get involved with welcoming Lily Douglas home last night by both lighting up the Palace in pink and a small fireworks display which we hope could be seen across the river in North Muirton.
“We’d like to thank 21CC Fireworks, Perthshire Sound and Light and Audio Wave who made everything possible and we hope Lily is now settling in at home with her family.”
Friends of Lily have also launched a fundraiser for the youngster who was diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma aged 9 and has become an inspiration to many in her continued fight against the disease.
Set up by family friend Erin McNicol when Lily was admitted to hospital on August 2 the the GoFundMe has already raised over £13,000.
