The team at Scone Palace have begun decking the halls as they prepare to welcome in local guests this festive season.

The landmarks is one of the only stately homes in Tayide and Fife welcoming visitors since the entire region was put into Tier Three.

Only guests from Perth and Kinross will be allowed to visit the historic venue.

Other destinations such as Blair Castle and Drummond Castle and its gardens have taken the decision to close until the springtime.

The usual schedule of events at Scone has been ripped up with the annual antique fair, charity Christmas fair and carol concerts all cancelled.

However, Lady Mansfield says the pandemic measures had given the team the opportunity to decorate the Palace for special guided winter tours.

New twilight candlelit tours are being run in addition to the regular daytime events programme.

Lady Mansfield said: “With levels two and three still allowing us to visit stately homes, we really wanted to go all out here at the Palace to give some much needed cheer to our local communities who might be looking for somewhere Christmassy to visit.

“It has taken quite a few days to get the Palace ready and been quite a creative challenge but good fun too.

“We hope all who come really enjoy seeing the beautiful decorations.”

Tickets can be purchased through the palace’s website.
