The former Perthshire home of snooker ace Stephen Hendry has gone on the market with a price-tag of more than £1.2 million.

Ex-wife Mandy Hendry is selling off the five-bedroom property at Auchterarder, along with acres of development land.

The couple, who have two sons, split after 19 years of marriage when seven-time world champion Stephen upped sticks and moved in with an aspiring actress in the south of England.

Now Edinburgh-based agents Savills have been instructed by 48-year-old Mandy to sell off the turreted family home at Castleton Road.

Norwood, which is close to Gleneagles, boasts its own snooker room, paddock and riding area, as well as two reception rooms and a large conservatory.

A spokesman for Savills said: “The house design pays homage to the Scots mansions of times gone by and has baronial-style facades to the front and rear, bay windows and octagonal turrets.”

The Savills spokesman added: “The kitchen is straight from the pages of an interiors magazine, being wonderfully spacious and super-stylish, with granite surfaces, an extensive breakfast island and a stainless steel Britannia range cooker.”

There is an octagonal dining room with another turret just off the kitchen.

Outside, there is a separate games and snooker room with its own kitchen and large paddock for all-weather riding.

“Included in this sale are 2.4 acres of land immediately to the north of Norwood, ,which is currently fenced as horse paddocks,” said Savills.

There is planning permission in place to build two more houses on the site.

Mandy and Stephen were married at Muthill Parish Church in 1995, 11 years after they first met at Pontin’s holiday camp in Wales. Stephen was just 16 at the time.

It was reported in 2014 that the couple split after Mandy became suspicious he was having an affair.

Mandy was quoted at the time: “I am heart broken that Stephen has made the decision to leave the marital home, relocate to England and pursue a new relationship with someone else.”
