Attempts to lift the massive Ardblair Stones were among a host of events at this year’s Blairgowrie and Rattray Highland Games.
The Ardblair Stones Challenge saw heavyweight competitors lift reinforced concrete spheres ranging in weight from 18-152kg on to whisky barrels.
This was the fourth year they have featured as part of the games and some of Scotland’s strongest men and women took on the task of shifting all nine.
Games Chieftain Laurence Blair Oliphant presided over the games, which were held at Bogle’s Field in Essendy Road, Blairgowrie, on Sunday.
Spectators enjoyed a full range of traditional Highland games competitions which ranged from heavy lifting events to piping competitions, track and athletics, a hill race, cycling competitions and Highland dancing.
The opening parade was followed by the annual Blairgowrie versus Rattray tug o’ war challenge, which was open to anyone who wished to take part.
Those who did received a special badge to commemorate the community event.
The crowd enjoyed the popular dog show, which was run by charity Staffie Smiles Rescue and consisted of pedigree and novelty classes along with a best in show prize.
Proceeds from the dog class entries went to the charity.
Other family entertainment included a mini fair, bouncy castles, face painting, mini kiddie games, Llamas and birds of prey.
In addition, there was also a range of trade stalls selling various Scottish crafts and clothes as well as food and drink stands.
