A Perthshire road has re-opened following a burst water main.
The A823 Muckhart to Gleneagles road was closed to motorists around 6.45pm on Monday after the pipe burst, resulting in “extensive flooding” close to Castlehill Reservoir, near Glendevon.
The road was damaged as a result of the burst water main with crews from Scottish Water attending on Monday night and this morning to assess repairs at the scene.
Scottish Water confirmed that a water main which carries untreated water from the reservoir had burst, causing damage to the A823.
A Scottish Water spokesperson described the repair work as “complex.” However, he added that the road re-opened to motorists around noon today, with a two-way traffic system in place.
And a spokesperson for Perth and Kinross Council commented: “The A823 has re-opened to all traffic. There will be a set of two-way traffic signals at the location for the next three days to enable the full carriageway repair to be completed by Scottish Water.”
Water supplies to homes and businesses in Perth and Kinross and Fife were not affected.
