Williamson's has closed its Perth and Pitlochry branches.

A prominent Perth city centre florist has closed down.

Williamson’s Flower Shop, located on the corner of the city’s George Street opened in 1997 and established itself as an award-winning florist in the Perthshire area.

After 22 years serving Perthshire residents, the family business’s Perth branch closed this morning.

Managing director Jim Williamson explained that the decision was taken because of family reasons.

The company’s Pitlochry branch has also closed.

A statement on the firm’s website said: “Our retail operations director Carol Williamson, who has a home in Pitlochry, would like to thank all her customers over the years for the support shown to her and the good wishes towards her health.

“The Williamson family are restructuring and still committed to delivering outstanding service and floral gifts to the area as we have done for over 26 years from our central delivery store.”

Flowers can still be ordered online and the company has a branch nearby in Broughty Ferry.
