Winners of The Courier’s Rewind competition cannot wait for this weekend’s festival and have promised predicted rain will not put them off.

Four lucky Courier readers won a pair of VIP tickets for the annual 80s extravaganza at Scone Palace.

Perth mum Sarah Sharkey was one of the Saturday winners and there is one name that stands out of the lineup for her.

“I can’t wait to see Lulu,” she said.

“I was amazed when I got the phone call, I never win anything. My sister is going too so we’ll meet up with them.

“I haven’t been to Rewind for ages and I think there are going to be showers but it’s what you make of it.

“I’m taking my mum with me as my plus one, we’ll have a great day.”

Dundee woman Nicola Ferguson won the other pair of Saturday tickets and will be making her Rewind debut.

She said: “I’m in shock – I’d really forgotten that I’d even entered. When I found out, I made so much noise in the car that the woman said it would have been much better as a radio competition!

“This will be the first time we’ve ever been. My husband has always wanted to go and pestered me to get tickets.

“It looks like it will be great, but it’s not the line-up that’s most important to us. We can’t wait to soak up the atmosphere, catch up with our friends and have a drink.

“We’ll make sure we’re wearing our wellies!”

Kerry Howard from Tayport was another of the lucky winners, bagging a pair of tickets for Sunday.

She said: “When I heard I was absolutely ecstatic. I’ve been to Rewind but not for a while, seeing as you can never guarantee the Scottish weather.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing The Stranglers and Bryan Ferry, and I’m a big ABBA fan so Bjorn Again will be brilliant.

“I’ve not decided who I’m going to take as my plus one, but given they’re VIP tickets, it shouldn’t be too difficult to convince my friends.”

The other pair of Sunday tickets are going to Tricia Nicholson from Perth, who was preparing for a rare year off from Rewind.

“We normally go every year but this year we had so much on that we couldn’t make it. I was really gutted but now I’m super-excited.

“I’ve seen Belinda Carlisle a few times before so I’m looking forward to her again. I’ve never been VIP before so this will be brilliant.

“My husband has volunteered to come with me – it’s usually my daughter who comes with me but he fancies the VIP tickets.

“I’ve been when it’s torrential rain and hailstones, so whatever the weather is, it won’t faze me.”
