Those inspired by the Solheim Cup will be able to play a round at Gleneagles themselves from the comfort of a newly-launched bar in Perth city centre.

The Bunker Golf Lounge opened on Thursday in the former Bank of Scotland building on South Street.

Complete with two golf simulators and a pair of Formula 1 simulators, management say they have taken inspiration from The Golf Lounge in Glasgow to bring “something new” to the Fair City.

Having lain empty for around five years, co-owner Colin Bell took over the premises last July and said he hopes to bring 15 jobs to the city, with around a dozen starting this week.

The site had previously been earmarked for an Italian restaurant.

The two simulation booths will allow punters to “virtually” play full courses such as Gleneagles, St Andrews and Turnberry, along with various exotic overseas courses and driving ranges.

Colin said: “It’s not often that Perth gets ahead of the game with a new experience. This is a new adventure which brings a whole new concept to time out with friends.

“The Bunker has two state-of-the-art indoor golf lounges within its premises, so from Perth city centre you can find yourself playing 18 holes in Augusta or driving the 17th at The Old Course in St Andrews, without worrying about the weather.

“F1 fans can experience the thrill of driving around some of the world’s top racing circuits.”
