Forfar Musical Society in rehearsals for its 2019 panto The Grinch.

Election bosses have made sure the show will go on for a pantomime during the season of goodwill.

The Grinch is being staged by Forfar Musical Society, but the snap general election called for December 12 cast doubt on the scheduled four-night run at the Angus town’s Reid Hall from December 11-14.

The landmark building has been a polling station for many years, but Angus Council has swapped to Strathmore Hall at Forfar mart as a polling station to keep the Reid Hall free for panto fun.

Society members are in the final stages of rehearsals and said they were pleased the possible clash had been averted.

Polling stations have been moved across Tayside and Fife, although the changes have been made to avoid closing schools for a day and are not specific to this snap election.

In Angus, Glamis Heritage Education Centre will be used instead of Glamis Primary School, The Crickety in Brechin is to replace Andover Primary School, Cortachy Church instead of Cortachy Primary School and Friockheim Hub will be used for the first time as a polling station in place of the village primary.

Voters who previously attended St Ninian’s or Tayview primary schools in Dundee will now use the city’s new Menzieshill Community Hub.

In Perth and Kinross, no polling stations were moved but the Royal School of Dunkeld had to reschedule its Christmas show as it clashed with the general election.

Fife voters have a number of changes to be aware of, following a review of polling venues.

Those who previously voted at Pittencrieff Nursery School in Dunfermline will now go to the polls at the Education Resource and Training Centre in the town’s Maitland Street.

Touch Community Leisure Centre in Mercer Place, Dunfermline, will replace St Margaret’s Parish Church.

A new polling district was created, with residents in east-central Dunfermline who previously voted at the church now being asked to turn up to Carnegie Primary School.

Following the decision to merge the Cowdenbeath central and Foulford polling districts, the library and bowling club polling places have been replaced by the community centre in Stenhouse Street.

In Burntisland, the polling place at the former local office has been moved to the Solid Rock Café in High Street.

Torbain Parish Church Hall will replace Torbain Primary School in Kirkcaldy. Some residents who used to vote at the primary school will now be part of the new polling district of Newliston and will vote at Chapel Neighbourhood Centre.

Whinnyknowe and Balgeddie in Glenrothes is subject to a boundary tweak, and the former polling place of Whinnyknowe Portacabin has been moved to the Nairn Suite of Balgeddie House Hotel.

Ladybank Primary School will give way to the church hall off Church Street, and voters in Leuchars will now go to the Community Hall in Keith Crescent.
