Three local Tory politicians have refused to disclose who they are voting for to be their party’s, and the country’s, next leader.
The Courier approached all nine Conservative MPs and MSPs who represent constituencies across Tayside and Fife and asked them if they would be backing Jeremy Hunt or Boris Johnson for Prime Minister.
Six of the politicians replied with prompt responses, however three refused to publicly disclose who they were voting for.
Conservative MSPs for Mid Scotland and Fife Alexander Stewart and Dean Lockhart, along with MP for Ochil and South Perthshire Luke Graham, would not be drawn on who they are backing in the leadership race.
The local Conservative politicians backing Mr Hunt are: Angus MP Kirstene Hair, Mid Scotland and Fife MSP Liz Smith, Mid Scotland and Fife MSP Murdo Fraser, North East Scotland MSP Liam Kerr and North East Scotland MSP Peter Chapman.
North East Scotland MSP Bill Bowman is backing Mr Johnson.
The winner of the contest will be announced on Tuesday, July 23 after the final ballot closes on Monday, July 22.
Theresa May will stand down as Prime Minister on July 24 with her successor appointed by The Queen on the same day.
