A woman has died after falling 20 metres at Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 2.40pm on Wednesday after receiving reports that a woman had fallen down a cliff face.
A rescue attempt was launched involving the Coastguard helicopter, police and the ambulance service.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “A multi-agency rescue operation was launched but the woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
“Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding this.
“Motorists and members of the public are advised to avoid the area as emergency services are still in attendance.”
