Forecasters have issued a fresh warning of heavy rain and thunderstorms for Tayside and Fife on Sunday.
Despite reports of flash flooding in Perthshire on Friday evening, Courier country avoided the worst of the conditions which battered much of Scotland on Friday.
And much of the local area could dodge the forthcoming stormy weather as well, which forecasters have predicted will continue into Sunday.
A Met Office yellow warning of rain is in place for Tayside and Fife until 9pm on Saturday.
This morning the forecaster issued another yellow alert for the area – warning of a downpour on Sunday. It will be in effect between 11am and 9pm.
Both warnings say there is a potential for “torrential” downpours of rain, flooding and thunderstorms.
However inland areas are expected to be the worst affected with parts of Scotland expected to escape with a “dry day” come Sunday.
Earlier this week, the Met Office said parts of the east coast of Scotland – including Dundee and the Angus and Fife coasts – would escape the worst of the stormy conditions, which is more likely to plague central and western areas.
Sunday’s weather warning states: “Heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop by late morning on Sunday, mainly across inland parts of western Scotland.
“Some of the storms could be severe, and with generally light winds, will be slow-moving.
“Whilst some areas may escape with a dry day, where storms do develop, torrential downpours are possible.
“There is the potential for 20-30 mm of rain to fall in an hour, and as much as 40-70mm in two-three hours. As well as heavy rain, frequent lightning and large hail are also possible.”
