If leaving your vehicle unattended, it is just good practice to close and lock the doors.
Police are forever reminding the public that this simple action will cut down on theft, making their lives easier and ours better.
It’s not taken so seriously in remote areas but Stornoway-based joiner Eoghain McPhee has proved that you can never be too careful.
The 22-year-old was in the tiny Harris hamlet of Lickisto when he opened his van’s doors before walking away as he prepared to load it.
When he returned, an opportunistic ram was waiting for him, having taken his chance to seek some shelter from a storm.
Eoghain said: “What was more funny was that before that, when I opened the van at first and was inside it clearing some space, he jumped in with me.
“He had me cornered! The poor guy was just feeling the cold and thought the van looked cosy.”
The ram was released without charge and was said to be pleased at the recent rise in temperatures.
