A car has ploughed into pedestrians in a “crazy” incident in the heart of New York City.
The collision took place in Times Square, with many workers in neighbouring buildings being told to stay inside.
Twenty-two people are said to have received medical treatment, with one 18-year-old woman confirmed dead.
Witnesses described the vehicle driving against traffic and onto the pavement before striking people.
The 26-year-old driver of the vehicle is in custody. He is said to be a US Navy veteran and US citizen.
The incident is not believed to be terror-related.
The crash took place at 45th Street and Broadway at about 5pm local time.

Hoping that car crash in Times Square was just an accident and not intentional. Thinking of all of those affected.

Can see the car crash from my floor. Car hit multiple people in Times Square. Looks like it went down the wrong side of the street.
