Each week, we will take you on a trip back in time with a selection of photographs picked from DC Thomson’s vast archives. This week, the focus is on Strathmartine Road in Dundee.
Our first image, from January 16 1969, shows Christopher Price, the lollipop man at Cloan Avenue/Strathmartine Road. Mr Price was 77 years old when this picture was taken.
The second photo dates from May 12 1979 and shows workmen on the roof of The Three Barrels pub on Strathmartine Road after a fire caused £200,000 of damage.
In the third picture, from January 2 1977, a group of children make their way to school through fairly major flooding in Camperdown Road, at the junction with Strathmartine Road. They don’t look too perturbed by the excess water!
The fourth photo shows the 2nd Dundee Boys’ Brigade and 8th and 89th Guides marching away from Strathmartine Parish Church after their end-of-season church parade. The picture was taken on May 19 1980.
The fifth photo, from April 1 1986, shows Butterburn School on Strathmartine Road being demolished to make way for new houses and flats.
The final photo, taken on May 6 1982, shows butchers at Scott Brothers on Strathmartine Road getting busy.
