Cowdenbeath have announced that Liam Fox is the club’s new head coach.

The 32-year-old takes over in the Central Park hot-seat vacated earlier this month by Colin Nish following the club’s relegation to League Two.

Fox, who turned out for Hearts, Livingston, Inverness and Raith Rovers during his playing days, has recently been working at Tynecastle as a youth coach.

Now, he is tasked with securing an immediate promotion for the Blue Brazil next season with Jason Dair, who has been in temporary charge of the club following Nish’s departure, set to stay on as his assistant.

In a statement, the club said: “Cowdenbeath FC is delighted to announce the appointment of Liam Fox as the club’s new Head Coach.

“He joins us from Heart of Midlothian and we express our appreciation to Hearts for their professionalism and co-operation in enabling this appointment to be made.

“The club is also delighted to announce that Jason Dair has been appointed as First Team Coach.”

Chairman Donald Findlay added: “Liam is a highly regarded, talented and ambitious young coach.

“We have an excellent relationship with Heart of Midlothian and I am very grateful to Ann Budge and her colleagues for allowing Liam to join us as Head Coach.

“Liam and Jason are both aware of my determination to see the club make an immediate return to Ladbrokes League 1.

“Suffice it to say, they share that determination, relish the challenge and have already started work.

“I hope that everyone who has an interest in or affection for Cowdenbeath FC will give them wholehearted support as we embark upon the next chapter of the club’s proud history which stretches back 135 years – and counting.”
