Forfar could top the group with win against Dundee

Gary Bollan.

Forfar have got an opportunity that Dundee would love to have – topping Group A of the Betfred Cup.

An impressive win over East Fife in midweek sees the Loons one point ahead of the Dark Blues on five points.

Victory for Gary Bollan’s men at Dens and defeat for Peterhead at Dumbarton would see the League Two side through to the last 16.

Bollan said: “We could finish at the top of the group but we can also finish in any position from second to fourth so we will not be getting ahead of ourselves. It will be difficult game especially as they will be looking to hit back after losing to Peterhead in midweek.

“Playing a full time Premiership side away from home is always going to be hard and being so early in the season makes it all the more difficult.

“Dundee need to win to have any chance of going through so we know that they will come out in a very determined fashion.”

He added: “The players set a high standard against East Fife in midweek and if they play like that again then we have a chance of doing something positive.

“I wanted a win and the chance to go to Dundee with something to play for. We have that and want to make the most of it.

“If we could win or even qualify from the group then it would be a huge bonus ahead of starting the bread and butter of our league campaign at Edinburgh City next week.”

Michael Kennedy and Marc Scott will miss out again due to injury.
