Dunfermline are weighing up a possible move for Celtic youngster Alasdair Davidson.
The 19-year-old is leaving the Hoops this summer after coming through the ranks at Parkhead.
The left-sided defender made nine appearances for the Celtic B side in the Lowland League last season.
Standing at 6’2’’, Davidson also turned out for the Scottish champions in the UEFA Youth League against RB Leipzig and was involved in the squad for another five games in the European tournament.
The Scotland U/17s cap had been linked with interest from Pars rivals Falkirk earlier in the summer.
However, the Fifers are also considering a move for the teenager, who played for nearby Inverkeithing United before making the switch to Celtic.
It is understood Davidson joined up with Dunfermline for the start of pre-season on Monday to give the management team an opportunity to run the rule over him.
Should the Fifers follow up on their initial interest, it is expected Davidson would be seen as a development player.
The Pars this week snapped up freed Dundee United midfielder Zeke Cameron on a two-year deal as they look to the future.
Dunfermline look to youth
Recent signings Jeremiah Chilokoa-Mullen, Keith Bray and Connor Young have also been brought in with youth on their side, whilst the likes of Jake Sutherland, Liam Hoggan and Ewan McLeod agreed contract extensions last month.
“We’re advocates of young players,” assistant-manager Iain Brunskill told Pars TV. “I’m from a development background, Neil’s got a great development background.
“[Look at] what he’s done at previous clubs in nurturing young players and bringing them through at all the clubs he’s been at.
“So, that’s a real focus of ours.”
The Pars are, however, also keen to add experience to their first-team squad for the coming season as they eye a promotion push.
Meanwhile, former Inverness Caley Thistle team-mate Charlie Gilmour has backed fellow new arrival Bray to thrive at Dunfermline.
“Keith works hard,” said Gilmour, who joined the Pars this summer. “He obviously plays in a few positions – I’m not actually sure what position!
“But that’s a compliment to him, obviously, because he was quite influential with Inverness last season
“So, hopefully, he can hit the ground running at Dunfermline.
“He’s that type of lad that will get stuck in and he won’t be fazed by anything, and obviously Dunfermline is a big club. I’m sure he’ll do well.”
