Dunfermline Athletic have secured the signing of former Bundesliga midfielder Alfons Amade.
The German-born player, who represents Mozambique at international level, has penned a two-year deal with the Pars, subject to international clearance.
The 25-year-old can also operate at right-back and joins following a successful trial period.
Amade was most recently on the books of Septemvri Sofia, the Bulgarian outfit who are part of the same Park Bench SFC ownership group as Dunfermline.
He also turned out for German side Hoffenheim as a youngster, playing competitive games in the top-flight and Europa League, before stints with Eintracht Braunschweig on loan and Belgian outfit Oostende.
Amade was a Germany youth international prior to switching allegiances to Mozambique.
East End Park gaffer Neil Lennon told the Pars’ official website: “Alfons will bring industry and technical qualities to our central midfield.
“We are all looking forward to working with him in Dunfermline and he is a player we have followed closely during his time at Septemvri Sofia.
“He also managed to join us on our week training camp in Bulgaria and settled nicely into the squad.
Dunfermline ‘integrating’ Amade into squad
“It was great for us all to get the chance to meet him and get him integrated into the squad.”
The signing has been delayed by red tape but will come as a welcome pick-me-up for Dunfermline at the end of a difficult week.
A cheeky bid to entice Dylan Easton from rivals Raith Rovers failed to pay off when the attacker penned a new long-term deal with the Stark’s Park outit.
And ‘a short delay’ in delivery – as well as inclement weather – was blamed for the postponement of the scheduled kit launch and community open day.
A Pars statement said: “The club would like to thanks the SFA exemptions panel for their support in the process in allowing Alfons to joins us.”
