Raith Rovers are running the rule over freed Hearts youngster Ethan Drysdale.
The 19-year-old has been training with the Stark’s Park club after leaving Tynecastle at the end of last season.
He had been with the capital outfit since the age of ten and was a regular when fit for the Jambos B team in the Lowland League.
The left-sided defender spent the second half of last season on loan at Partick Thistle after making the move west in early February.
The switch for a player previously described as one of Hearts’ most promising youngsters was part of the deal that took Harry Milne to Tynecastle in the opposite direction.
It was seen as an opportunity for Drysdale to kick-start his first-team career with the Jags, but injuries prevented him from making a single appearance for the Firhill side.
Having subsequently been released by Hearts at the end of his contract, the teenager is seeking a fresh start and Raith are assessing the youngster in training.
Drysdale pushes for Raith deal
He also featured for a little over half an hour in their first pre-season friendly against Linlithgow Rose on Saturday.
Rovers were defeated 2-1 by their Lowland League hosts, with Lewis Vaughan netting first for Barry Robson’s men before two late goals for Linlithgow amidst a host of substitutions.
It is understood that Drysdale could get another chance to impress in his search for a deal when Alloa Athletic travel to Kirkcaldy on Tuesday evening.
The match is Raith’s penultimate warm-up outing before their Premier Sports Cup campaign gets up and running with a trip to face Elgin City on July 12.
Robson has so far signed goalkeepers Josh Rae and Aidan Glavin, Jai Rowe and Richard Chin from English non-league football and handed a full-time contract to Community Club teenager Logan Raeside.
Further signings are expected before the competitive action kicks off in the cup a week on Saturday and on August 2 against Queen’s Park in the Championship.
