Raith Rovers aim cheeky dig at rivals Dunfermline as they announce Dylan Easton contract extension

The Pars are understood to have failed with 2 audacious bids for their Fife neighbours' star performer earlier this summer.

Raith Rovers have taken a thinly-veiled swipe at rivals Dunfermline after securing Dylan Easton on a new long-term contract.

The fans’ favourite has penned a two-year extension, committing him to the Stark’s Park outfit until May 2028.

The move comes after the 31-year-old was linked with interest from Dunfermline earlier this summer.

It is understood the Pars made two approaches for Easton last month but were rebuffed on both occasions.

Raith made it clear they were determined not to sell their star attacker as he came into the final 12 months of his previous agreement.

The last contact between the clubs was around a fortnight ago – and the Fifers then moved on to prioritise other targets.

But the bids sparked talks of a fresh agreement with Easton, who joined Rovers in 2022 and signed a two-year contract extension just 12 months ago.

A statement from the Raith board said: “Having received and rejected several offers from a bottom-half Championship club, securing Dylan’s signature and long-term commitment to Raith Rovers has been one of our top priorities.

“Dylan was our player of the year and is a fans’ favourite.

“He is an integral part of our ambition to continue growing the football club on and off the park – with a return to the Premiership firmly part of those plans.”

Easton: ‘My heart’ is at Raith Rovers

Easton has revitalised his career since dropping down the divisions after an ill-fated move from Livingston to St Johnstone in 2013.

Following previous manager Ian Murray to Raith from a successful spell at Airdrie, he has become a key player for the Kirkcaldy club and has spoken of being settled on and off the pitch.

He has taken steps to move into coaching with the Raith Rovers Community Foundation and insists he is committed to helping deliver success to the Stark’s Park outfit.

He said: “[I’m] buzzing to extend my contract here until 2028.

“My heart is at the club – I love coming into Stark’s [Park] every day, I love the boys and the team and everyone around the place. And I love the fans.

“I want to achieve something special here, and I’m fully committed to giving everything to make that happen.”
