Cowdenbeath happy to forget Tynecastle torture as they start their league campaign

Cowdenbeath head to Clyde today to kick off their League Two campaign on the back of a 6-0 defeat from Hearts.

However, manager Gary Bollan is more than happy to leave that Betfred Cup game in the past.

The Central Park manager reckons that there is no point in looking back to find negatives as key decisions influenced the outcome and insists that there will be no hangover in Cumbernauld.

Bollan said: “You could look at the final score and be despondent about it but the result was not a fair reflection on how the game went for us.

“There were lots of things to be pleased about in our performance at Tynecastle as we played good football at times and contained Hearts for long periods.

“The sending off of Martin Scott after half-an-hour changed things and their first goal early in the second half changed things even more.

“Both events disappointed me as Martin’s challenge was not a red card and there was a clear handball just before they scored.

“That gave us a huge mountain to climb and Hearts were on a roll as we tired. We will concentrate on the positives that we saw as we go into the league.”

The Blue Brazil will be without Scott as a result but David Cox will play after overcoming the head wound he picked up.

Bollan added: “We had the four games in a row so it was good to have some recovery time last weekend and then time to get ready for this game.

“We had a couple of players with knocks however they have cleared up.”

“Clyde have not changed too dramatically and of course in David Goodwillie they have the stop striker in this division.

“I watched their game against Motherwell last weekend and they were 15 minutes away from pulling off a great win.

“They lost two quick goals but even then they can back and could have made it 2-1. It will be a tough test but I believe that we are well prepared for it.”
