Scottish League Two champions Peterhead FC were swept up in Manchester City’s Premier League victory celebrations on Sunday.

While the English giants were named champions for the second year running following a 4-1 win over Brighton, the Blue Toon were still revelling from finishing top of their own table after beating Queen’s Park 2-0 on May 4.

Manchester City fans celebrate.

The official Man City Twitter account re-posted a Peterhead FC tweet from last weekend as part of the club’s victory celebrations – albeit with a few changes.

The Blue Toon’s post announcing themselves as “League 2 Champions 2018-19” was edited to say “Premier League Champions 2018-19”.

Man City posted: “Hope you don’t mind us borrowing this, @pfcofficial Congrats on your league win!”

And the north-east club were delighted at the English side shining the spotlight on them.

The Peterhead FC official account tweeted: “Peterhead is blue and so is England, congratulations from all at the #BlueToon.”

Peterhead fans were also delighted, with many poking fun at Man City.

The Bluetoon Fans account even had the nerve to ask for some funding from Man City, asking: “Can we have some money pls? x.”
