James McPake is confident that Graham Dorrans will emerge from his and his team’s form dip to be a crucial player for Dundee in the coming months.
The influence of the former Rangers and West Brom playmaker has waned in recent weeks as the Dark Blues have slumped to three successive defeats.
McPake has no doubts that Dorrans will be a star turn again, however.
“There is an expectation that comes with certain players and he’s one of them,” said the Dundee boss.
“He had two-and-a-bit years out and now he’s played 10 games.
“He’s getting to the point where his match sharpness is there and he’s now fighting for his form, which is coinciding with a team on a poor run.
“I still think he’s a top quality player.”
McPake added: “My concern would be if he was struggling with injuries and he’s not.
“You can still see his quality in flashes but it takes more than one man to make a team click.
“Everybody needs to stand up as a group and be better.
“He’ll prove the quality that he’s got.”
