Dundee boss Paul Hartley has praised Nicky Low for all the hard work he put in to battle his way back into the team following ankle surgery in the summer.

The 24-year-old former Aberdeen midfielder had last played on April the 9th before finally making his comeback against Inverness two weeks ago and he kept his place in the starting line-up for Saturday’s game at Dens with Celtic.

Now, after what has been a stop-start spell for Low since he signed for the Dark Blues last year, Hartley is hoping the player can steer clear of injury for the rest of the campaign.

Hartley said: “Nicky has had to work really hard to get back into the team.

“He has not had his problems to seek in terms of injury and illness but hopefully he will stay fit now.

“He played a lot for the Under-20s before he made it into the first team again to get back up to speed and he has been brilliant for us.”

Meanwhile, Hartley has also given Danny Williams a pat on the back for the power of work he put in against the Hoops.

He said: “Danny probably didn’t get forward as much as he would have liked but he will not be facing a side of Celtic’s quality every week.

“Danny and the rest of the lads deserve a lot of credit for the hard work they put in on Saturday.

“You have to be disciplined and organised when you play against a Celtic team that have been hitting sides for five or six and only had one change from the Manchester City game.”
