Dundee’s Craig Wighton admits that his sustained run of games in the team has considerably boosted his confidence.
The 19-year-old opened the scoring for the Dark Blues in their 2-1 victory over Inverness at Dens on Saturday.
The counter was a fitting reward for some glittering performances in recent weeks, playing alongside big Canadian strike partner Marcus Haber.
The Caley game was Wighton’s fifth start in a row and he is simply relishing the opportunity given to him by boss Paul Hartley.
The teenager, who was watched by a scout from English Championship side Wolves on Saturday, said: “I have maybe had a few chances in the last couple of weeks that I haven’t taken so it was great to get that goal to top my performances off.
“It is another three points and takes us into the next couple of games that are definitely winnable.
“We are up to seventh now and we will look to keep climbing even higher.
“I have never had a run as long as this in the team so I am definitely a lot more confident.
“Big Marcus is helping as well. He gives us a different style. He’ll take it in and win headers.
“I think we complement each other really well – it’s working just now and long may it continue.”
