Uncertainty has surrounded Dens Park for the past six months.
Which division would Dundee be playing in? Who would get a new contract? Would anyone get a new contract? Who would be leaving?
And then after the decision to remove Gary Bowyer as manager, there was a three-week period where who would lead the Dark Blues wasn’t certain either.
Slowly but surely we are beginning to find out the answers to those questions.
Tony Docherty is the man at the helm now and decisions on player contracts have been made with most of the squad accounted for.
However, there are still six players who played their part in last season’s Championship success who we are yet to hear about.
Last week, the Dark Blues announced they were releasing a number of players.
Ryan Sweeney has since joined them in leaving the club.
But who is left in uncertainty?
Jordan McGhee
Since signing from Falkirk in 2019, McGhee has been a major part of the Dundee squad.
Despite his relatively young age, the versatile defender has been a regular on-off captain.
He’s even shown his ability to play in central midfield over the past two promotion campaigns.
However, he remains the one experienced player still to agree new terms with the club.
McGhee missed the end of last season due to a knee injury and proved a key absentee in the middle of the park.
Able to play anywhere across the back as well as in midfield, his versatility would be an asset next season.
Fin Robertson
Still only 20-years-old, youth is on Robertson’s side.
His early promise hasn’t been realised yet but it is still waiting to be unlocked.
Whether that is at Dundee or elsewhere, we’ll find out soon enough.
Max Anderson
Another midfielder with bags of potential, Anderson too struggled to hold down a regular first-team place under Gary Bowyer last term.
But a change in manager may get the 22-year-old back to his best.
He showed in flashes he was capable at Premiership level last time and has plenty of years ahead of him.
Sam Fisher
Young defender Fisher impressed when returning from loan at Dunfermline last season.
And he ended the campaign with two league-winners medals as well.
In all he played eight matches for the Dark Blues last term, whether manager Tony Docherty thinks he is ready for the step up to the top-flight remains to be seen.
Pierre Reedy
A late signing last season, the American made just four substitute appearances for Dundee after arriving in April.
Reedy spent a lot of time training with the Dark Blues before signing, obviously doing enough to impress Bowyer.
How much he can impress a new manager in the close season with only a few short sub appearances last season is a question still to be answered.
