Dundee FC duo Joe Shaughnessy and Scott Tiffoney have left Dens Park after rejecting new deals.

Dee confirmed the double departure after releasing the list of retained first-team players on Tuesday night.

Shaughnessy’s exit means defensive reinforcements will top new head coach Steven Pressley’s list of priorities following his appointment as Tony Docherty’s replacement.

Josh Mulligan wait and Lyall Cameron move confirmed

Meanwhile, Josh Mulligan’s future looks increasingly likely to lie away from the City of Discovery, with his deal at the club now expired.

But a Dee contract remains on the table for the 22-year-old academy graduate.

Mulligan has been linked with Rangers, Cardiff City and Plymouth Argyle, while Blackburn and West Brom have also been credited with an interest.

Goalkeeper Adam Legzdins has now officially moved away from a playing role but will remain at Dundee in an operations role.

The Dark Blues – whose squad update came on the day Lyall Cameron was unveiled as a Rangers player – said: “The club previously announced that Jordan McGhee and Lyall Cameron had indicated that they would be leaving the club following the expiry of their contracts.

“The club can confirm that the following players have also left the club – Scott Fraser, Mo Sylla, Antonio Portales, Scott Tiffoney and Joe Shaughnessy.

“The club is extremely grateful to all these players who have given so much to the club over a number of years, both on and off the pitch.

“They have all been fantastic servants to the club and the club wants to thank them all and wish them all the very best for the rest of their careers.

“The club will release a separate thank you to the players departing the club.”

The official return of loan trio Seb Palmer-Houlden, Oluwaseun Adewumi and Ziyad Larkeche to their parent clubs was also confirmed.

Dee, who snapped up Drey Wright and Paul Digby last week, added: “We thank all of the players who have been on loan with us this season for their hard work and service to Dundee Football Club.”
