Dundee have sealed a season-long loan deal for young Brentford winger Tony Yogane.
Courier Sport revealed talks were at an advanced stage on Saturday evening and the move is now complete.
New Dens head coach Steven Pressley is well aware of Yogane’s talents from his four years working behind the scenes with the Premier League outfit.
And moved quickly to secure the exciting teenager for the season ahead.
‘I couldn’t say no’
Yogane watched Dundee take on Arbroath at the weekend and says the opportunity to work with Pressley again made it an easy decision.
He told DeeTV: “I’m excited to be here, just can’t wait to get started.
“Steven worked with me closely and looked after me, so I couldn’t say no when the opportunity came.”
‘Exciting attacking player’
Coming up through the Sheffield Wednesday youth system, Yogane switched to Brentford as a 16-year-old in a move that infuriated the Owls hierarchy.
Right footed but preferring to play on the left, the winger has worked through the Brentford youth setup and made his first-team debut last season.
Thomas Frank threw on the youngster as a late sub in an EFL Cup win over Leyton Orient and he would take a place on the bench in six Premier League fixtures.
A loan spell at Exeter City followed where he played 18 times, laying on two goals.
However, he was raw and there was criticism from fans for his desire to beat his opposite number over creating goalscoring chances.
But Exeter boss Gary Caldwell was pleased with how Yogane did in his first loan move, saying: “He has amazing one-v-one skills, he knows there’s areas of his game he has to improve but I think he’s a player with a big future.”
Of the youngster’s 18 appearances, five were starts as Exeter finished 16th in League One.
Brentford view
Now Brentford are keen to see Yogane continue his development at Dens Park.
Their B team coach Neil McFarlane said: “He is a fantastic one-v-one eliminator in forward areas and has always shown a brilliant attitude to improving by working at his game.
“Hopefully with a prolonged run in the team, Dundee will see the best of Tony.
“What is also important is he is going to a good club with a manager in Steven who knows Tony very well and how to get the best out of him.
“We wish Tony and Dundee all the very best in the new season ahead.”
