Dundee’s striker shopping is finished this summer with the capture of Brentford frontman Ashley Hay.
There are, though, other areas to strengthen with plenty of business still to do despite six players already coming in during the close season.
The latest of those is Hay for an undisclosed fee from the Premier League outfit.
The 21-year-old said on signing that he trusted head coach Steven Pressley after the pair worked together at Brentford.
And Pressley is delighted to add Hay to his squad.
Ashley Hay
“I compare it a little bit to Simon Murray, where you have to graft and find a way to keep going,” Pressley said of Hay, who like Murray worked as a plumber before making it as a professional footballer.
“He did that in the early part of his career before coming to Brentford, and he’s got some really good attributes, different to Emile Acquah’s.
“He’s very quick, he’s an excellent presser, he’s deceptively good with his head, and he’s got good movement behind, and I think he’s a really interesting player.
“Ash is at a great age, and again, signing for two years gives us a little bit of stability in that area.
“My intention is to be playing with two strikers. It won’t be every week because you have to adapt to situations.
“But that gives us, in my opinion, three very good strikers that we can select from.”

So who may be the next player coming in?
Will the Dark Blues still be in the market for a fourth striker?
“No, not at this moment,” Pressley said.
“I’m very, very comfortable with those three.
“But we’re certainly looking for a number of players. I think we still need to get five or six players through the door.
“There’s still a lot of work to be done, but we want to get the right ones.
“We have spoken to a midfield player, and we’re awaiting a response on that.
“But apart from that, there’s nothing really close at this moment.”
