English born Johnson began his career at Middlesbrough’s academy before moving to Hartlepool United and then Real Murcia at the age of 18.
He returned to England for spells at Harrogate Town, Billingham Synthonia and Guisborough Town.
An impressive spell at the latter club saw him secure a move to English Championship side Cardiff City and after loan moves to Tranmere Rovers and Stevenage, dropped to the National League with Gateshead in 2015.
53 goals in three seasons earned him a move to Motherwell last summer.
