You can be Dundee United heroes: Csaba Lazlo rallies his troops ahead of play-offs

Csaba Laszlo had told his players they can become Dundee United heroes whose names are remembered at Tannadice for generations.

The Tangerines’ gaffer was hugely impressed by the sight of hundreds of Arabs heading straight from their seats at the end of Saturday’s win over Livingston to queue for tickets for tomorrow night’s quarter-final at Dunfermline.

And he knows if his team delivers and get back to the Premiership via the play-offs those fans won’t forget it.

“This situation we have now, honestly it won’t ever come back for these players,” he said.

“This is the chance of their life, to be always in a positive way in the history of Dundee United.

“I have told the players they have to understand if they can make the huge step back into the Premiership, nobody will be doubting about their performance.

“Nobody will make a question mark about them.

“God has given them a big chance to do this and if they do they will always be remembered.

“People will write about it and their names will always be mentioned. That’s the message they have to understand.”

On Saturday, Csaba was satisfied as his team completed their league programme with victory over runners-up and potential play-off semi opponents Livingston.

Finishing just a point off second also brought frustration.

“I think we deserved to win 2-0 and it means third place. It is important, in the last league game, to go and win.

“It is a little disappointing that in the last game at Livingston we were 1-1 and looking good but lost at the very end.

“This could have been second with the one point from that game.”

Skipper Willo Flood was rested at the weekend and will return to the starting line-up down at East End Park.

Winger Paul McMullan was left out as a precautionary measure because of a groin problem but he trained on Saturday and looks set to make the squad.

Tickets for tomorrow night went on sale to season ticket holders immediately after Saturday’s game and were available again yesterday.

A general sale started first thing this morning and any tickets that remain unsold will be available again tomorrow.
