Tony Andreu believes Dundee United fans will be 12th man when Hibs come calling

Tony Andreu is backing the Dundee United fans to roar the team to victory in their top-of-the-table clash with Hibs.

United are hoping for a tangerine and black Friday when they face the Championship leaders at Tannadice in nine days’ time.

With no game for either club this weekend, all eyes are on the big one between the teams currently occupying second and first places.

The stadium is expected to be packed and star man Andreu believes the anticipated large home support could make all the difference to the outcome.

The French playmaker said: “The one thing I have really noticed since I joined United is that the fans are very loyal.

“They have been brilliant, even when we haven’t given them a great show.

“They are always there for us and always support the players.

“I think they will be absolutely crucial for us when we play Hibs.

“They can definitely be, as you say in Scotland, the 12th man.

“They will roar us on, hopefully to victory, but also be patient if we are maybe not doing so well at times in the game.

“It is very important for the players to know that we have so many people right behind us.

“We are now facing a huge match and we have to be at the top of our game to beat Hibs,” added Andreu.

“The confidence is high at the club and that’s not a surprise because we had won seven games in a row before the draw at Morton.

“We can go level with Hibs at the top of the table if we win and that will set us up very nicely for the Christmas period.”

With tickets selling quickly even this early fans are being urged by United to buy well in advance, even though the plan is still to sell tickets at the club shop right up to the 7.45 pm  kick-off.
