Dundee United’s Conference League second qualifying round showdown against UNA Strassen has been switched to the Stade Municipal de la Ville in Differdange.
The Luxembourg outfit ordinarily play their games at the modest 1,500-capacity Complexe Sportif Jean Wirtz.
However, that ground is not up to code for Uefa competition, facilitating a move 25 miles south-west to Differdange.
The fixture will kick off at 7pm local time (6 pm UK) on July 31, with the home leg taking place at Tannadice on July 24 with a 7.45pm start.
The Stade Municipal de la Ville is the same venue where UNA Strassen hosted their only previous experience of continental competition; a 0-0 draw against KuPS of Finland. They went on to lose the tie 5-0.
The Uefa-recognised capacity of the modest ground is slightly north of 2,000, with competition rules stating that the visiting club is mandated to receive an allocation of at least 5%.
In this case, that would see Arabs chasing around 100 tickets for the away day.
Locked in talks
However, Courier Sport understands that United chiefs are locked in talks with their UNA Strassen counterparts and remain very hopeful of that allocation being increased; perhaps by a margin of hundreds.
The Tangerines intend to release further information regarding the amount of available away briefs when those discussions – which include logistical and security considerations that take time – have reached their conclusion.
