Dundee United Supporters Foundation (DUSF) members have voted in favour of committing £167,671 to fund significant improvements to the Tangerines’ academy base at Foundation Park.
More than 75% of the DUSF’s 2,200-plus pledgers cast their online ballot in recent days, with an overwhelming 96.8% of respondents backing the proposal.
The funds will be utilised to construct a new gym at Foundation Park, install new kiosks, improve infrastructure and fund analysis software.
The naming rights agreement for Foundation Park will also be extended until at least June 30, 2030.
The funding increases the amount invested in Foundation Park by the DUSF to £559,000 – with more than £700,000 overall contributed to the club, fans’ projects and charities.
And the agreement marks a new chapter in the relationship between United and DUSF, which had reached something of a cordial impasse as the parties struggled to alight on suitable projects on which to collaborate.
Thrilled
DUSF director Martin Manzi said: “We are absolutely thrilled with the outcome of this ballot.
“It demonstrates the incredible commitment of our members to securing the long-term future and success of Dundee United.
“These funds will make a tangible difference at Foundation Park and will directly contribute to the club’s objectives for the new season and beyond. We look forward to continuing our close partnership with DUFC.”
United finance director James Robertson said: “We believe that the partnership, strengthened by this latest agreement, will continue to grow, and we look forward to continuing to work with the DUSF directors closely on future funding proposals.
“The chairman (Mark Ogren) and senior leadership express our thanks to all the members who voted, and to all for their continued financial support towards the club, and also to the DUSF directors for their diligent and passionate work.”
