Jim Goodwin hopes to have “a couple of new faces” at Dundee United by the end of the week as Isaac Pappoe nears a summer switch to Tannadice.
Courier Sport revealed on Monday that United had launched a loan swoop for the Ferencvaros midfielder.
With all parties now satisfied with the terms of the season-long deal, Pappoe is going through the visa process. He already possesses a Governing Body Endorsement (GBE) from the Scottish FA to complete the move.
Towering goalkeeper Yevhenii Kucherenko’s signing has already been confirmed. However, the ongoing war in Ukraine has made the logistics of his exit circuitous.
But the hope within Tannadice – albeit Goodwin was loathe to name Pappoe until everything is signed, sealed and delivered – is that both men will be on Scottish soil in the coming days.
“We hope to have a couple of new faces in by the end of the week,” said Goodwin.
“We’re delighted with the business that we’ve done up to now and I think we’ve done good early business.
“But we recognise the fact that the squad is still light, and we’ve still got a lot of work to do.”
Logistics
On Kucherenko’s delayed arrival, Goodwin noted: “Everybody’s aware of what’s going on where Yevhenii is.
“It’s difficult getting people out of the country, first and foremost.
“It’s not as straightforward as just hopping on a plane.
“Logistically, the operations team here have been really busy trying to get him transport to where he needs to be to get the visa pushed through.
“But we’re in a good place with that and we’re looking forward to getting him in the building.”
