Dundee United have secured the signing of Ferencvaros midfielder Isaac Pappoe on a season-long loan deal.
Pappoe, 21, arrives at Tannadice in search of first-team football after making just five appearances for the Hungarian champions last season.
However, the Ghana U/19 international, who has another three years to run on his deal, was seen as a rising star prior to his switch to Fradi, shining in the second tiers of Israeli and Swiss football with Ashdod and FC Aarau.
Such was his promise, that Super League big guns Basel and Servette were both reportedly interested in his services last summer. However, the lure of Ferencvaros proved too good to turn down.
Courier Sport broke the news of United’s move for Pappoe earlier this week, with the deal made official on Thursday.
And Tannadice boss Jim Goodwin hopes the 5ft 7ins youngster can emulate the impact of previous loanees Sam Dalby, Luca Stephenson and Emmanuel Adegboyega.
“We’ve worked extremely hard to bring Isaac to the club amid strong interest from elsewhere,” Tannadice boss Goodwin told Dundee United’s official website.
“His energy and work ethic are infectious, and he has terrific ball-carrying and progressing abilities. Out of possession, he reads the game intelligently.
“We enjoyed great success with the loan market last year. Luca Stephenson, Emmanuel Adegboyega and Sam Dalby, among others, were instrumental in our European qualification.
“We’re confident Isaac can continue along this trend.”
Pappoe becomes United’s sixth summer signing following the arrivals of Panutche Camara, Iurie Iuvo, Zac Sapsford, Yevhenii Kucherenko and Bert Esselink.
Finnish U/21 international Dario Naamo is likely to make it seven on Friday.
