Former Raith favourite Grant Anderson signs for Queen of the South

Former Raith Rovers player Grant Anderson has joined the Kirkcaldy club’s Championship rivals Queen of the South.

The 29-year-old admitted at the weekend on social media that he was “disappointed and gutted with the way things came to an end for me at Raith Rovers”.

However, the winger, who was a member of the Rovers side that memorably beat Rangers in the final of the Ramsdens Cup two seasons ago, has now signed a one-year deal with Gavin Skelton’s Doonhamers.

Anderson said: “I’m delighted to join. The gaffer made it very appealing and the fact that he chased me is a big compliment. That’s always a big factor when the manager wants you.

“I’ve been in the Championship for five seasons, the standard has raised over the past few years, with the likes of Rangers, Hearts, Hibs and now Dundee United.

“So it’s a really good league to be part of but a hard one to get out of. Hopefully I can help get Queens into the play-offs.

“Queens are a great club and have good players so it was a no-brainer really.”
