Dunfermline derby hero Nicky Clark insists the Pars will be looking up the table rather than down from now on.
The East End Park men produced a fine display to beat Raith Rovers at Stark’s Park on Monday, with Clark grabbing the opener in the 2-0 success.
The result moved them up from ninth spot in the Championship to sixth place and, significantly for the supporters, they are now just four points adrift of their Fife neighbours.
Clark said: “Our aim is to look upwards.
“Dunfermline are a big club and we are looking at getting into the play-offs at least.
“We are working hard in training every day and the performances are starting to show that.
“Confidence is a massive factor in football.
“The boys are buzzing right now and our confidence is high.
“We are looking forward to every game now.
“It was a great result against Raith because it pushed us up to sixth.
“I thought every player, to a man, was brilliant.”
Clark’s header came after just 11 minutes and Lee Ashcroft added the second for the Pars with 12 minutes remaining.
The day could have been even better for the 25-year-old former Rangers striker had he not missed a sitter in the second half.
Clark added: “It was good to get the goal and it was a move we had worked on in training.
“After that, I didn’t really think we were in any danger of losing the game.
“I thought we played really well.
“I should have scored one or two more but that’s football.
“We have players in the squad who can create these chances for you.
“At least I was in the right areas to get the chances and I will take that.”
